Harley
Crosswinds Equestrian Center

Harley has been a part of my family for 18 years this year, he was my first pony that we got when I was seven and he was four from some older girls in the barn who had bought him from an auction as a project. We had many adventures together and when I outgrew him at thirteen, he went to another girl with the offer that we would take him back when he was no longer needed. During Covid we reached back out and learned they had given him to some friends down south who had then passed him on to another program. Luckily, we were able to connect with his current connections and brought him home in June of 2021 where we were able to integrate him into the lesson program at the barn where I still ride. Even though he lost an eye to glaucoma during our time apart he was still the vivacious and gentle pony that I remembered. He is a favorite of the lesson kids and is regularly used in IEA and IHSA and has been selected as horse of the show on multiple occasions. Even though he is busy teaching the younger generation I still take him on trail rides for my birthday and make sure to spoil him with snacks because he is a true gentleman. Seeing him taking children around their first shows just like he did for me when I was young is really touching and I am grateful to be able to provide him with a job he still loves.
