2026 School Horse Nominees
Here are the nominees for our 2026 School Horse Initiative!
Nominees are listed alphabetically by Farm/Riding Program Name.

Chicken Nugget
603 Equine
This small horse is nothing but a blessing. I started my program in 2022 after leaving a very abusive marriage, i taught lessons my entire life and lost the opportunity to take over my family farm in 2016 due to this abusive man. My step father has very aggressive early on set Parkinsons.
Chicken Nugget was bought with all the money i saved up working 2 jobs as a single mom. He has helped put me back on the map in a very hard world to make a comeback in. He does everything from dead beginners to taking you around a 2 foot derby. He has helped my daughter, and 4 other students place very well at our local medal final weekend. I owe this cute mutt horse pony everything .

Chicken Nugget
603 Equine
His patience, his love for his riders, his showmanship!

Chicken Nugget (Oakley)

Morgan
Autumn View Equestrian Center
Morgan has done all the things ! She competed with me for years and evented Novice and did many Recognized Dressage shows through second level. She has now been teaching riders for the past 10 + years and has shown her real talents. She is a superb school horse and easily gives the rider what they're looking for when they ask correctly but she makes you ride and pay attention to what your doing ... she definitely doesn't give anything for nothing. Morgan goes how she is ridden and now in her early 20's she enjoys her students whether it be a 7 yr old beginner or an adult getting back into the sport! She truly has helped so many riders go out to a horse show and really compete but also learn how to ride a mare that definitely will still give a little sass off the farm or if the rider isn't present.

Morgan
Autumn View Equestrian Center
Morgan is a once in a lifetime. she has the patience of an old soul. is very easily a heart horse.

Mo
B2 Equestrian
Mo Tramp, by the legendary Uncle Mo, was purchased five years ago and has undergone an incredible transformation. He's evolved from a horse who once thought a jockey belonged on his back into a dependable, beginner-friendly walk/trot lesson horse, yet step into the jumper ring, and its like flipping a switch. Suddenly, he's all rocket fuel and fire.
He will happily trot over ground poles with a beginner, then turn around and soar over 1.10m fences without hesitation. Mo Tramp is the rare kind of horse who will quietly and confidently take care of the most novice riders, yet light up in jumper classes with athleticism and heart. He genuinely loves people and, above all, is a true gentleman always putting his rider first and taking pride in doing his job well.

Cowboy
Big Apple Equestrian LLC
Cowboy has given so many students, young and old, confidence and education. We love Cowboy!!!

Olaf
Black Ridge Farm
Olaf is truly a unicorn! He has been in our riding program for 10 years now and does lessons for all ages, specializing in our first time riders! He is the kindest soul with unlimited patience. Olaf is a barn favorite that just LOVES his job. From summer camps, to IEA, to helping our special needs riders, to showing locally on the circuit and helping riders get their first show experience, Olaf does it all and with the best attitude. He truly is the perfect example of those priceless unicorns that every program would be lucky to have!

Lottie
Blue Horizon Equestrian
Lottery/Lottie is the best lesson horse, with patiences kindness and a great ride.

Lottery (Lottie)
Blue Horizons Equestrian
Lottie is a thoroughbred mare who is patient and kind She has taught beginners through advanced; from schooling shows to A-Rated always the same trustworthy companion.
I can't imagine our lesson program without her!!

Lottie
Blue Horizons Equestrian
Lottie is an angel, she's sweet and can jump so well. She took me to my first ever rated show and was very nice to me and saved my butt.

Lottie
Blue Horizons Equestrian
I am nominating Lottie because she is the do it all for anyone horse. From your baby's first pony ride, to bringing teens and adults around the hunters, eq, or jumpers for their first time. And even to being the horse I got back in the saddle with after breaking my leg, herniating disks in my back, and tearing my labrum after a terrible accident Lottie made me feel safe, confident, and whole again - after my accidentally physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially broke me. All of Emily's school horses are absolutely amazing, although Lottie is truly a one of a kind. Thank you Lottie for being such an incredible mare for so many of us.

Lottie
Blue Horizons Equestrian
Lottie is so talented and so kind. She always makes sure to keep her riders safe. She loves littles to adults she can really do it all.

Willow
Blue Horizons Equestrian
Willow is just the best girl ever. She's personally taught me so many things about horses and life and turned me into a mare person forever.

Willow
Bradford Stables
Willow is a 21 year old pinto mare that was rescued 8 years ago from a kill lot. She didn't know much under saddle when she first arrived, but has always been a babysitter! She loves jumping as well as trail riding, but her main discipline of riding is hunter flat. Now, kids of all ages (2 being her youngest rider) take lessons on her weekly, and she has even taught them all about horse showing!

Ruben
BREC Dressage
Ruben- he is 21 this year. Friesian stallion that I trained up to GP. Competed successfully in GP CDI division open & freestyle. Throughout my time with him several riders got a chance to ride and compete him. From AA riders to pro doing their first CDI. Currently he's being the perfect school master to one of our AA riders learning the ropes of 4th level. He's constantly participating in several of our clinics at BREC Dressage. He will continue teaching riders until he tells me he's done but he's not close to that yet. It takes a special rider to learn how to put a Friesian canter together, so I've enjoyed the journey helping them understand the not-so- easy technique and balance it takes to accomplish that.
He's definitely a school horse extraordinaire, hopefully you will consider him for this award.

Oakley
Bridlepath Equine Center
Oakley is one of the original horses of Bridlepath Equine Center, a nonprofit therapeutic horsemanship program, in Quarryville, PA which opened in September 2023. We serve individuals with physical, emotional, behavioral, and intellectual diagnoses. Since our opening, Oakley has taught many participants how to be independent in ways that they didn't realize they were capable of - skills such as grooming and tacking with minimal assistance, learning to steer independently through an obstacle course even with limb differences, and mastering the posting trot without losing rhythm. Oakley has been the source of many smiles, laughs, and pride as participants hit milestones week after week. His impact on our participants will always be remembered for years to come!

Buoniconti's Arthur "Arthur"
Buoniconti Stables
I've been riding horses for a long time and I've found that the best horses are often overlooked. They're the plain, the average-sized, the ones who may not always put their "best ears forward." That's Arthur. He's a 15.3 (ish) liver chestnut of average build and it's all but impossible to get his ears up. But he is as honest as the day is long, he jumps from anywhere (as long as it's his idea). He is the same horse at home as he is at a horse show. He gives his stoic confidence to anyone who rides him, from a timid 12-year-old to an adult amateur who needs a break from her highly-strung jumper. Thank you, Arthur __

Buoniconti's Skywalker
Buoniconti Stables
Outgoing personality, healthy, with a hint of stubbornness

Buoniconti's Skywalker
Buoniconti Stables
As an adult rider getting back into riding Sky has been the perfect lesson horse. He is patient with anyone that rides him. I have learned so much from him in the years that I have ridden him. He has taken many riders to their first horse shows. His calm and steady demeanor makes anyone that rides him feel at ease. I can get nervous at times when jumping higher than usual or going to a bigger show, but I know that Sky will take care of me.

Buoniconti's Skywalker
Buoniconti Stables
Sky is one of the best lesson horses I have ever had the privilege to work with. He is calm and quiet for that 5yr learning to lead a horse then will turn around and give confidence to that Adult Amy showing at her first rated show. Sky's one in a million and we are so lucky to have him. Thank you for considering Sky.

Noble
Bylund Hill Stables
Noble is the heart of the barn. At 27 years young, he is healthy, happy, and still shows up every day with patience, kindness, and an incredible sense of responsibility for his kids. He takes care of each rider with a gentle steadiness that builds confidence and trust, always giving exactly what they need. Noble is happiest doing his job whether that means slow, careful lessons, quiet reassurance, or simply being a calm presence. When he's not working, he's enjoying his favorite snacks, soaking up cuddles, and spending time with his buddies. Noble is more than a school horse; he's a teacher, a friend, and a constant source of comfort and joy. He truly embodies everything a Horse of the Year should be.

Tank
Cameron Rotunda Equestrian
Tank is such a sweet and patient horse. He is a perfect school horse to teach young riders, equine safety, allow them to safely,
learn how to groom and properly tack a horse, and learn the early fundamental riding skills. I am so thankful my children have had the opportunity to begin their horseback riding adventures with Tank and truly believe that due to his calm nature, it will set them up for success, joy, and appreciation for the horse world. We love Tank.

Tank
Cameron rotunda equestrian
Tank is a chestnut pony that is now a little bit older. He has taught me everything I know from day one to today. He is the best little dressage pony and always tried his hardest for me and I am so grateful for him and don't know where I would be without him.

CharPenza
Cameron Rotunda Equestrian (CRE)
Penza is quite the lesson pony! She is 23, bread for endurance, but has been there done that from Dressage to Drill Team!
I broke my leg 5 years ago and had to retire from riding. Penza was board, wanting a job, when my friend Cameron asked if I thought she would be suitable for her lesson program she was expanding. We hauled her to Ocala to get checked out by one of the best veterinarians, and it was determined that that was exactly what she needed! Low impact, daily work to help keep her young! It's still up for debate if she loves the kids more than the kids love her, but she is one special unicorn loved by the whole barn!

Keys Breeze
CRE
Breeze is the best girl! She's an OTTB, went all the way to PSG and has now been a lesson horse for years. After a 25yr break from riding, she got me back in the saddle and competing again. I love this sweet mare.

Boston
Capstone Farm
Boston is a real life unicorn. He has taught our riders, both tall and small, from their first rides, to taking those first independent laps at the trot and canter, to learning to jump and horse show. And he does it all gracefully, with a smile on his face. He has the sweetest, most snuggly personality, and is the consummate professional. Beloved by everyone who crosses his path, we are truly lucky to have Boston teaching our riders.

Chloe
Carousel Farm
Chloe is the heart of my pony business, she has never failed to take care of the littlest of my riders one starting at 18 months old, she allows 3 yr olds to independently steer her, all of my tiny kids learn to trot and have there first independent trot off the lunge line learning to post. She is irreplaceable for her gentle kindness and love for tiny kids. The most spoken about pony at many dinner tables. There isn't a child that doesn't love Chloe and when her job is done to transition them to the next step she lets us know it's time and they have the tools to be ready. I appreciate this fun and special honoring of these horses that do so much for us and beginner riders.

Carpe Diem's bedtime story
Carpe Diem Equestrian
Story has been in my program for 9 years, she has created riders who are now doing the 3'3 and up. She is the best learn to canter pony and loves her job! Picture of her and her bff Lulu who is 33 this year!

Mouse
Cavallo Dreams Farm
Mouse is a unicorn. At 30 years old he is still teaching, still participating in IEA, still providing support, patience, grace and love to his students. He's been a favorite for decades and is so deserving of this award. He's doesn't complain, allows mistakes without consequence, and has fulfilled so many dreams of success.

Jellybean
Cavallo Farms
Jellybean has taken countless lesson kids from their first lesson on a lead line to children's pony division over and over again. She is a saint on the ground, and gives children the confidence they need to thrive in a lesson program. She is 23 this year and continues to teach multiple
children each week without complaining. Of all the lesson ponies and horses, she is the favorite that everyone requests. Jellybean is quite the barn mascot and has never missed dressing up in the annual Halloween show for nearly two decades. She is well deserving of this award!

Carte Blanche aka Crunch
Chester Croft (Home of the Southern New Jersey IEA Team)
Crunch has been part of our program for over 10 yrs. He has done IEA, IHSA and IHSA Alumni in his "transition to a second career". He was shown in the Children's Hunter and Jumpers in his younger years and even went to Devon to do Leadline last year! He has been "Horse of the Show" many many times at IEA and started in the Varsity Open division and has and continues to perform in the Future Novice and even the Future Walk/Trot. He helped riders win at IEA Nationals several years ago in Harrisburg, PA. He is the steady eddie who can always be counted on by a steward to do one more class and give his rider the very very best. At home is a barn favorite because he is as sweet on the ground as he is to ride.

Grace
Classic Colors Farm, LLC
Grace is just the BEST! I've had her since she was 4yo and she is 27 now. She still cancers crossrail courses and is in great shape and looks amazing! You'd think she was 10yo. She's a large pony so she's a great size for all the kids. She's always been very quiet and never cares about anything. You know you can always pull her out for a lesson even on a cold windy day or if she has been ridden in a week and feel totally comfortable that she will be safe and take care if the kids. I often joke that the lesso. Would probably go exactly the same whether there was a kid on her back or not because she listens to me teaching and knows her job so well! Her trots a little bouncy but she's one of the best to learn to canter on and learn to jump crossrails on. I never have to worry because I know she will take care of them! In summer camp, she's our leader when we take the kids on the trail on Fridays because she's a quiet and confident leader for the other horses. She's also a rock star at horse shows taking so many kids to their first shows in the beginner ring and often comes home Champion or Reserve. I have been teaching lessons on her for over 20 years and of course her work load has lightened over the last several years but she's still very sound and I hate to think about the day she won't be with me teaching lessons. She is the heart and soul of my lesson program __ and I'm so grateful!

Chai Tea
Clayton Ridge Riding School
Chai Tea is an extremely patient, kind and adorable school horse who has taught both of my children, along with dozens of others, just how wonderful horses can be. He teaches children from preschool ages through elementary school and beyond everything from how to steer at the walk to how to complete your first cross rail course. He always gives his best effort and gives you the sweetest cookies please face at the end of each lesson. He is cherished by all lesson students, their families and his wonderful owner/trainer Rebecca Briggs. He deserves recognition for all of his hard work and being such a wonderful boy.

Springfield (BART)
Coastline Farm
Bart is my lesson pony extraordinaire! He is as tolerant as the day is long whether he is doing weekly lessons, taking a kid out on their fist trail ride or getting decorated up in a wild (and for most horses terrifying) Halloween costume. He has brought and continues to bring so many children all the firsts; first time off a lungeline, first jump, fist blue ribbon and starts everyone teaches on a path of smiles when they start their riding journey.

Han Solo
Coco Stables
I am nominating Han Solo because he is sweet, loving, and demands that I give him his confidence. When I am at my best, he performs and shines through and the dedication and hard work perseveres. My trainer always says that she would put her new born and her grandma on this horse because he is a snuggle bug and teaches me how to be a great rider each day I ride. He gives me all the snuggles, strength and confidence I need to be a strong rider and person. We all love Harrison

Angel
Cornerstone Equestrian Dacula
Angel is a 35 year old lesson pony who is still teaching kids to WTC. At one of her shows last year the judge commented on how sound and happy she looks to do her job. She has taught hundreds of kids to ride. Her nick names over the years have been "spicy grandma", "princess", and in her younger days "not so angel." Angel is the heart of our program and if you have ever been lucy enough to ride her then you have experienced a legend.

Harley
Crosswinds Equestrian Center
Harley has been a part of my family for 18 years this year, he was my first pony that we got when I was seven and he was four from some older girls in the barn who had bought him from an auction as a project. We had many adventures together and when I outgrew him at thirteen, he went to another girl with the offer that we would take him back when he was no longer needed. During Covid we reached back out and learned they had given him to some friends down south who had then passed him on to another program. Luckily, we were able to connect with his current connections and brought him home in June of 2021 where we were able to integrate him into the lesson program at the barn where I still ride. Even though he lost an eye to glaucoma during our time apart he was still the vivacious and gentle pony that I remembered. He is a favorite of the lesson kids and is regularly used in IEA and IHSA and has been selected as horse of the show on multiple occasions. Even though he is busy teaching the younger generation I still take him on trail rides for my birthday and make sure to spoil him with snacks because he is a true gentleman. Seeing him taking children around their first shows just like he did for me when I was young is really touching and I am grateful to be able to provide him with a job he still loves.

Apollo
Delaware Valley University
Apollo has been a staple school horse in DelVal's equine program. She was one of my favorites during my time there 2012-2016. Apollo is patient, all knowing, and kind. She will teach even the best rider the skills that she knows and how they can do better - even if it means just sitting there and being patient.

Cowboy
Duzan Equestrian Academy
Cowboy is the best lesson pony ever! He taught my daughter so much and we are so grateful for his lessons.

She was the first pony I ever rode and she has been such a good girl and always took good care of me for seven years. She will always be my favorite and I will always look forward to seeing her at the barn

Ven
Duzan Riding Academy
I am nominating Ven because he is one of the calmest ottbs I know. He will almost always go around perfect and and do whatever is asked when done correctly.

Sweetie
East End Equestrian
Sweetie lives up to her name! She is the sweetest mare to ever exist. She always takes care of her rider no matter your level. She is amazing on the ground and when riding. She deserves the world!

GreySea
Enshanting Allie
GreySea is a truly a once in a life time horse. She has shown so many children the strength they have has always been within. She will be 26 on valentines day and she is the favorite horse at our barn. She beautiful and so very patient. She beautiful on the flat, she's a smooth graceful jumper, she can barrel race, run poles and pull a wagon. She has done it all it her life all while changing the lives of every child who throws a leg over her.

Fancy
Enshanting Allie stable
I am nominating fancy because she was my first lesson horse as an adult who is newer to the hobby she has kept me safe and has taught me
Loads my first two years ! I watch her now teach so many little kids there walk trot lessons and with her beautifully smooth canter lots of people get to learn on her ! She is incredible and the first horse I've loved I don't own her but I'm lucky to have known her th least two years I hope me and fancy and the riding school have many many more years to Come I'm sure if you asked anyone at our riding school they would agree that fancy is such a beautiful and incredible horse and we are so lucky to have her

Amazing Grace
EnShanting Allie Stables
Previously GreySea, now affectionately known as everything from Grace and Amazing Grace to Momma, is a staple in the riding program. She came to us as a fox hunter and took many students up the levels building confidence in her riders as she is always so willing and game for it all. Grace has evented, shown in hunters, gone on Hunter paces, western games, etc all the way down to leadline and walk trot. Grace is comfortable to ride, easy to trust, will save you from any precieved dangers and is a dream for beginners all the way up to advanced levels. She is also referred to as the "White Queen" because gosh-darn it, she is the best girl around.

put a lil pep in your step
EnShanting Allie Stables
Put a little Pep in your step because Peppe is truly one of a kind. In a world where most horses shine in just one discipline, Pep stands out by excelling in many. He confidently moves/ between jumpers, hunters, barrel racing, and cross-country with an ease that is rare and remarkable. What makes him extraordinary is not just his talent, but his incredible ability to switch gears. Pep has an "on and off switch like no other, focused and powerful when it's time to perform, yet calm, patient, and gentle when it's time to teach.
Pep is the definition of a perfect lesson horse. He is safe and steady on the cross ties, making brushing and saddling a stress-free experience for even the youngest riders. He carries beginners as young as three years old with the same care and reliability that he offers adult riders well into their sixties. His consistency builds confidence, his patience builds trust, and his kindness creates lasting connections between horse and rider.
Pep is also every parent's dream horse. My own mom never worries when I'm on Pep, even at high-energy barrel races, because she knows he understands his job and always puts his rider first. He takes care of those who ride him, no matter their age or skill level.
Peppe is more than a lesson horse; he is a teacher, a protector, and a partner. These are the reasons he truly deserves the School Horse Award.

Toby
Enshanting Allie Stables
Toby is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He's kind, gentle, and sweet as can be for children and adults of all levels. He loves his riders as much as they love him.

Jackie
Equi-librium Therapeutic Horsemanship
Jackie is a true "jack of all trades" she is a pillar in our lesson program. She teaches adaptive riding skills, occupational therapy and equine assisted movement and driving our wheelchair accessible Thornlea wagon. She has been a valued member of our program for 11 years.

Teddy
Fairbanks Stable
I'm nominating Teddy because he has restored my outlook on riding. When my new horse ended up having medical issue after medical issue, for over two years, it had emotionally draining as well as financially. I was fortunate enough that my wonderful trainer gave me the chance to ride Teddy. He's just a perfect 6yo chestnut quarter horse gelding. I think he thought I was his best friend, and I couldn't agree more (lol). We trail rode, went to hunter shows, and have been having tons of fun together. During a time where I was in a bad place due to the situation with my horse, he seriously helped me regain my confidence in myself.

Meatball
Finish Line Farm
A good lesson horse is hard to make and harder to find. 10 years ago I decided I would be able to find a diamond in the rough at a local, but dodgy auction. I sat in the cold bleachers watching horses go through, most selling to dealers or other auction houses, until a short, fat chestnut walked into the ring. I had never bet on a horse, and I raised my number timidly. As soon as I did, the owner of another auction house spotted me and bid against me. This continued until I was almost out of nerve and definitely out of money. Finally the auctioneer told the other guy that they all wanted to go home and to let me have the horse. Meatball came home that day and became the pillar of my tiny backyard lesson program. Over the years every new rider started on Meatball. Everyone did their first off the farm show on Meatball, he excelled in lessons with disabled students and anytime I needed a horse I could depend on I reached for Meatball. This summer he started showing signs of his age. He lost weight quickly, didn't command the herd like he always had, and was losing the sparkle in his big brown eyes. His diagnosis hit hard, a very aggressive form of cancer that would give him weeks, not months. I told his legion of loyal students, now ranging from 3 to 25. We had to cut so may pieces of his tail for memories that he had barely any left, and I felt at peace with the life I had given him. And then Meatball decided not to die. His bounce back from simple a anti inflammatory prescription baffled his vets and amazed the pathologists. We had to tell the students that he probably wasn't going to pass, and over the next months his tail grew into a well deserved mullet. Meatball proudly back to the boss of the herd, corner stone of the lesson program, and has returned to the bulbous red chonk that gave him his name. You never know how much time you have with a horse, but we are so thankful for our second chance with Meatball.

Nacho
Finish Line Farm
Nacho is the best horse. One day he will have a beginner bouncing on his back learning to trot and the next day he will have a advanced person going cross country schooling.

Rooster
Five Star hunters
He's the greatest teacher with the gentlest heart. From adults to kids, the best baby sitter ever!

Hope
Folly Farm
Hope is a core member of our school program and has been for over 7 years! She can teach any lesson from beginners all the way through students jumping around, and is a favorite IEA draw! Hope is kind and gentle on the ground, and is a perfect size for everyone to be able to handle and tack up. We absolutely love Hope!

Classy Bow Ty
Folly Farm Show Stables
Classy Bow Ty, commonly known around the barn as Scout, is truly one of a kind. He has provided opportunities and companionship to hundreds of kids. From taking Tiny Trotters around the ring for the first time, to being named Horse Of The Show at many IEA competitions, Scout is truly a superstar. He has been a staple in Folly Farm's lesson program for many years and continues to be the best boy. Personally, Scout took me around my first Short Stirrup show and made sure I fell in love with the sport. It has been 5 years since I met Scout for the first time and he continues to make me smile and remind me why we all love this sport.

Bose Bentley
Forever Home Farm
I am nominating this horse because he is a gentle giant and he takes care of someone so much of the age of 2 to as old as it gets, he is just amazing and loves everybody and will do anything for anyone.

Double Shot Of Mac
Forever Home Farm
My daughter had been riding for around 7 years or more and had lost the love of riding for various reasons. It broke my heart. And then she met Mac last summer. She spent the summer reconnecting with riding. Riding outdoors, trail riding, competing and Mac brought back her love!!! He took care of her when she really needed it and reminded her of all the reasons she loved to ride.

Starter

Bilbo
Four Generations Farm
Bilbo is the textbook definition of a saintly school horse. This adorable medium pinto pony has taught so many riders the basics of horsemanship. His perfectly kind and patient nature makes him so well suited to his job as the best Walk-Trot pony Four Generations Farm has in our family of already wonderful school horses. Bilbo has a smooth and metronomic trot. The confidence he builds in young riders is unparalleled. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bilbo.

Peanut
Fox Crossing Equestrian
Peanut is the definition of a dependable and kind school horse. He has been apart of our program for many years. He takes care of riders of all ages and skill levels, patiently teaching beginners the basics while still helping more advanced riders build confidence and skills. Peanut's steady personality, forgiving nature, and willingness to do his job makes him a barn favorite and an invaluable partner in helping riders learn, grow, and love the sport__ here he is winning horse of the show in true Peanut fashion!

Logan
Fox Pointe Equestrian Center
Logan is a 27 yr old Morgan/Paint who was rescued from the kill pen at 6 yrs old. He loves to teach kids from the first times meeting horses to 2' jumping. In his prime he was able to compete at 2'6 but now he enjoys keeping it to the lower heights. He gives kisses for treats and hates blue flowers. He is a favorite of the school program and at IHSA shows for the Oakland University and Wayne State University programs.

Ozzie
Fox Wood Farm
Ozzie the definition of a saint. My mom bought him almost 10 years ago for my youngest sister. When she outgrew him he became the backbone of our lesson program. Ozzie is one of the kindest and most forgiving ponies I've ever met. It doesn't matter if it is a tiny 5 year old or 90, yes, last summer Ozzie taught a lesson to a 90 year old woman. He will take care of any rider, every step of the way. He has taught over 30 kids how to canter. Ozzie's favorite job is what we call "light to light". My mom calls it that because he goes "light to light" from one end of the ring to the other where my mom clucks and sends him off from one side of the ring to the other allowing new riders to focus on themselves and posting, they don"t even have to steer! Then at the end of the "light" he goes back to the walk on his own. The littles love it because they feel like they are riding on their own, which they are. Thanks to Ozzie. We are trying to expand our program and we have mostly Ozzie to thank for that. We really could never repay him for all he has done for us and all he has done for these kids. He is 21 this year and we hope to have many more memories with sweet Ozzie. We know there will never be another Ozzie. We truly enjoy every moment with him.

Buddy taught her everything he knows over the years, helping her develop confidence, trust, responsibility, care and so many other amazing qualities she shows at the farm, in the arena and also in life. Buddy
Frazier Farm
Buddy is a legend. He;s done so much for my family and we're just a slice of all the goodness Buddy has done. He was my daughter's first lesson pony. He took care of her while she learned all the basics. We were lucky enough to have him all to ourselves over a winter and it was the most magical winter of my daughter's life. It was what pony girls dream of. And then she got her own pony and it didn't go so well and Buddy picked up the pieces and taught her to be bold and brave again. He's our hero.

Milo
Full Curcle Farm
I am an older rider who had to start over after a significant horse fall injury. This horse was SOOO patient with me and allowed me to be off balance and shaking while he was steady and patient. He was incredible, and got me through my fears and I am now riding my OWN HORSES again! He saved my horses AND my love of riding. If I had not gotten through that, I probably would have had to rehome my horses because I was too scared to even pick their hooves.

Snowy

Snowy is an absolute unicorn of a pony. At 28 years old she has started a countless number of kids and taught them the art of asking and not telling, lightness, and respect. She has stollen the hearts of many and will be a forever barn favorite. She is absolutely irreplaceable!

Valentino F
Gleneayre Equestrian Program
Through horsemanship, the Gleneayre Equestrian Program exists to provide impactful changes in the lives of people in difficult situations. We believe that the powerful connection between people and horses can be transformative. We have a farm full of Heart Horses, each one leaving a special mark on the lives of the people that touch. One, named Tino, has lived at the farm for almost 10 years. To say he is special would be an understatement. Tino, known as Valentino F on the equitation circuit, came to us when our program was small, just beginning to grow. We were excited to have such an acclaimed horse join our barn. He was big and powerful and piloted children of all ages to numerous victories and championships. He would come alive when he stepped into a show ring, as if instinctually, he knew what to do. Tino taught our children well. As the years progressed, Tino began to age, as is inevitable with even the most acclaimed champions. Arthritis forced him to step down to the low vertical and crossrail divisions. That is where Tino truly began to shine. He taught timid riders how to find their courage. Almost every new rider at our barn learned to canter on him. Tino is as patient as they come. He excelled at helping our students who needed
"just a little more time", rise to find their own spark. Time is a thief, and the aging process caught up to the invincible Valentino once again. He developed PPID, and last July, that came along with a touch of laminitis.
Tino spent the majority of last summer on stall rest. We had a special podiatrist consult with our veterinary team, who designed orthopedic shoes to assist and encourage more hoof growth. He had a change to his nutrition plan, turnout schedule, and weight. Throughout his new health journey, the children in our program learned about insulin regulation, feeding, and the care of older equines with PPID. Tino didnt mind the rest as he was often the pet for the girls in the barn. It was a lengthy process; at times, it felt hopeless. Many people questioned why we were putting so much time, care, and effort into an old horse. To most, that was probably how he appeared just an old horse. When we looked at him, we saw a tapestry of hopes and dreams, lessons in resilience and grit, and memories of the many riders whose fire was ignited by their steadfast, champion-of-a-horse. Our mission has always been to bring people and horses together for the betterment of each other's lives. Tino has taught countless children invaluable lessons both on and off his back. He was their ambassador, their confidant. We owe it to our old horses to repay the gifts they bestowed upon our youth when they were capable. The time we took helping him heal was a lesson to all our children that horses are lifelong partners, not to be discarded because they are old or no longer of service. Tino's care taught them about compassion and patience. One young lady spent a lot of time grooming and spending time with him. She has been a member of our program for several years now. She has learning disabilities that impede her memory, and she has difficulty coordinating physical tasks. She is meticulous when it comes to grooming and bathing horses. Her tack is clean and perfectly oiled. She has not made as much progress as her barn mates in the saddle, however. Jumping was out of the question because other horses would get impatient with her mistakes. Little did any of us know that a beautiful partnership was just beginning.
We took a lot of time to ensure the comfort, dignity, and eventual healing of one more "old horse". Tino's sole depth went from 4mm to 20mm. His insulin and cortisol levels were regulated. When we received the news that Tino was indeed ready to return to riding and regular exercise, his young caretaker asked if he could be her project horse. Whether it was the numerous hours she spent in the stall with him or whether Tino just knew that this girl needed a little extra time and space, I cannot be sure, but they blossomed together. They began to work together slowly under saddle. Each ride got better. They progressed at a pace as if they were on the same journey. Tino carried his girl safely over ground poles, then eventually cross rails. She entered her first horse show in June and cried when they handed her a well-deserved Champion ribbon. Her teammates cheered for her, and her mom beamed with pride for her daughter. Tino's girl only gave accolades to Tino as she hugged him tightly. As Tino carried her back to the barn, arms still around his neck, she whispered I love you into his mane. With a little shake of the ribbon attached to his bridle, he seemed to say, "Right back at you."

Lucky
Grand Champion Show Stables
I am nominating Lucky, a school horse who has played an incredibly important role in my return to riding. After more than 20 years away from riding and competing, I re-entered the saddle six months ago feeling nervous and unsure. Lucky was the first horse I rode during this reemergence, and he has been instrumental in rebuilding my confidence.
Lucky is patient, forgiving, and has a wonderful sense of humor. He consistently makes me feel safe while allowing me to re-learn the fundamentals of riding at my own pace. He is big, beautiful, and steady, and he gives his riders the confidence to try again, even after mistakes. Because of Lucky, I have been able to reconnect with a passion I truly love. I am deeply grateful for the privilege of working with him and for the role he plays in supporting riders like me every day.
